Sapporo Snow Festival
A Duet of Excellent Skill and Light; World Renowned Snow and Ice Sculptures
Approximately more than two million local and overseas people visit this largest scaled winter event in Sapporo. Large and small snow and ice sculptures line up in a 1.5 km long area from 1-chome to 12-chome in Odori Park. After sunset, the festival offers a different atmosphere from what one see during the day, such as lit-up sculptures and projection mapping on a snow statue.
Lights and images are projected on the snow and ice sculptures. Tradition is observed, while new and cutting-edge technology is incorporated into the construction of the sculptures.
